Here are my 15 tips for adding a little beauty to your life inexpensively. Enjoy!
- Make your own quotation book or add a favorite quotes page to your blog. Reviewing them from time to time will get you thinking.
- Buy a bunch of your favorite type of apples and display them in a bowl on your kitchen table. Easily accessible for a quick, healthy snack!
- Store out of season sweaters in plastic bags. Include a sweet smelling soap or a fabric softener sheet inside to keep them fresh.
- Buy your staples (underwear, t-shirts, socks) twice a year. Consider buying them online to save yourself some time and have a record of your purchase.
- Line the inside of your closet door with art or travel postcards so you can get dressed in the morning surrounded by beautiful pictures.
- Be a few minutes early for you next appointment. Sit patiently, and wait calmly. Enjoy your own company while you show respect for other people’s time too.
- Decant your oil and vinegar.
- Store lemons and limes in bowls in your refrigerator so they look pretty and are easily moved to the counter for cooking.
- Add a pinch of cinnamon to your coffee grounds in the morning. Brew and drink out of your favorite mug!
- Use a pepper mill and trying buying freshly ground spices. The difference is amazing.
- Unplug the television and take it out of the bedroom.
- Begin the day by stretching while still in bed!
- Try a natural, herbal bath. Create an herb sachet with fresh mint, lemon verbena, or even herbal tea and add it to your warm bath water.
- Write a heartfelt thank you note. It happens so rarely these days.
- Buy a blank book for a friend you know wants to begin a journal, but has trouble getting started.

Great ideas! I especially agree with no tv in the bedroom. Ever since having a living space with more than one room, I’ve only had the tv in the living room.
I have a room in my casita which contains an assortment of things that make me smile… whether a print of my favorite painting, gifts (I have this really cool green plate with sea turtles on it that a dear friend gave me many years ago), favorite books, my great grandfather’s rocking chair, trinkets my brother sends me from his travels…
Another simple thing that adds beauty to my life… making my bed. I love coming home after a long night of working and pulling back the covers and crawling into a made bed.
Love the postcards on the inside of doors! You know how much I love postcards!
Oh! One more because I am now enjoying it… freshly squeezed juice!
Initially, it isn’t inexpensive since one must buy a juicer. However, I don’t regret the money I spent on this kitchen item since I now have fresh juice of any flavor or combination of flavors I want. The taste of freshly squeezed juice is absolutely amazing and beautiful! And those crafty in the kitchen can probably find things to do with the leftover pulp… I fortunately have a Springer Spaniel who loves to eat pulp!
Hi Jenn! I couldn’t agree more about making the bed! I think it practically sets the tone to my day… It’s so nice to walk back into the bedroom after the day is done with everything in order and the bed made!
I love your juice idea too! It’s so funny that you should mention that because it’s an example used in the book that inspired this post!
How funny about the juice! But, seriously, a juicer is a great investment! Trust me on this one…
